VEHICLE SEARCH (EXPLOSIVE DETECTION) DOG HANDLER COURSE

The NASDU level 4 National Award for Vehicle Search Explosive Detection Dog Handlers award aims to provide the learner with basic skills, knowledge and understanding required to ensure the provision of a professional level of service as a Explosive Detection Dog Handler. This Award has been developed to meet the National Occupational Standards (NOS's) and the requirements of BS8517-2:2010 for a Detection Dog Handler . It is an assessment of the team's ( dog and handler ) ability to locate a number of substances in a safe systamatic methodical manor and for the handler to be able to read the indications given by a dog and to meet the required performance criteria, it's an assesment of the dog's ability in conjunction with the handler hence certification is awarded as a team being both dog and handler.

If you have your own suitable breed of dog with the abilty to be trained as a vehicle search dog you are welcome to bring it on the course with you. ( subject to a pre course assesment ) Alternatively we provide part and fully trained dogs for sale in conjunction with the course.

This is not an attendance course you will be continually assessed throughout with many topics intended to improve the mental and physical ability of our students as they learn to deal with conflict situations, violence and terrorism with realistic scenario based training. Our syllabus goes above and beyond the awarding body requirements giving you not only the skills required for you to achieve the qualification but more importantly additional skills enabling you to be successful in the industry.
