 Instructor - Explosive Detection Dog Handler Course 2010 & 2011

Stuart Joined the Metropolitan Police as Cadet in 1972, and became a Police Constable in June 1975. After recruit training at Hendon Police College was posted as a uniformed Police Constable to Hammersmith for approximately 5 years. He was also attached to the Central Drug Squad for 12 months. In 1980 he transferred to Feltham Police Station.
From 1981-2002 he was an Operational General Purpose Police Dog Handler in Chiswick and surrounding areas. In the mid 80’s the dog section was centralised and the area widened to include the whole of the south and south west of London. During this time he worked three German shepherd dogs and supported various agencies.

In 2002 he was involved in the arrest and conviction of Britain’s most wanted man. His dog at that time ‘Monty’ received life threatening injuries as a result of finding the suspect. This lead them being awarded the George medal (Dickens) for his outstanding bravery.

From 2003 to date he has been employed as a senior instructor in various disaplines at the Metropolitan Police Dog Training Establishment, Keston, Kent and is responsible for the training and reporting/commenting on over 300 dogs and handlers within the Metropolitan Police Force. This dog school is regarded as the elite Dog training establishment throughout Great Britain, Northern Ireland and Europe.
He was also actively involved as an explosive search dog handler and also as an advisor during the atrocities in July 2005.
 
Malpeet K9 Academy is extremely lucky to have Stuart on board who is our lead instructor for the NASDU endorsed explosive detection dog handlers course of which Stuart has had a large input into the development of and was the first instructor to run the piloit course for this new qualification in 2010.
