LEVEL 2 GENERAL PURPOSE SECURITY DOG HANDLERS COURSE

The HABC Level 2 General Purpose Security Dog Handlers award aims to provide the learner with the basic skills, knowledge and understanding required to ensure the provision of a professional level of service as a General Purpose Security Dog Handler.

This programme meets the requirements of those who have experience as Security Officers who wish to become General Purpose Security Dog Handlers. It would also be suitable for members of HM Armed Forces, Police or Prison Service who wish to take on a General Purpose Security Dog Handler role within the private sector. This is not an attendance course you will be continually assessed throughout with many topics intended to improve the mental and physical ability of students as they learn to deal with conflict situations, violence and terrorism with realistic scenerio based training. Our syllabus goes above and beyond the awarding body requirements giving you not only what is required for you to achieve the qualification but more importantly those skills required enabling you to be successful in the industry. It is designed to meet the needs of men and women from all walks of life regardless of background or previous knowledge.
Malpeet K9 Academy has earned an enviable reputation as one of the UK's leading specialists in training operational dog team's from around the world. If you have your own suitable breed of dog with the ability to be trained as a security dog we encourage you to bring it on the course with you. If not we have limited numbers of green or novice dogs that we can loan for the course duration. We can also provide part and fully trained dogs for sale in conjunction with your course.

This is a handlers qualification and is only 7 days in duration which is not long enough to train a novice dog fully in GP work. Hence it will sometimes mean that the handler has achieved the NASDU/EDI award but the team (dog and handler) have not achieved as a NASDU team. In these circumstances you will be encouraged to attend continuation training days which are complimentary for up to 6 days per year to Malpeet GP students.
